What is more comforting than a cup of a hot and creamy beverage? Ok, maybe a glass of wine & bubble bath or cuddling in front of a fireplace after a long hike in the snow… My point is, if you don’t feel like taking a bath, or you don’t have a fireplace in your house improvise and whip up a cup of this delish and creamy adaptogenic cashew rooibos tea latte and relaaaax. If you haven’t lived in a box in the last few years you must have come across adaptogens. I’m talking about those magic powders with the lovely but impossible-to-spell names such as Ashwagandha, Cordyceps, He Shou Wu, Reishi, Tulsi, Rhodiola and so on. Adaptogens are ayurvedic herbs and spices used for thousands of years for stress-reducing, adrenal-loving, hormone-balancing effects. Doesn’t that sound fab? While there is some scientific evidence that adaptogens are effective, other research suggest that it’s all placebo. My opinion is that adaptogens are way too hype at the moment but I love the thought of adding a mysterious magic powder to my drinks, plus, a little placebo effect has never hurt nobody!
Adaptogenic Cashew Rooibos Tea
2 tablespoons loose leaf rooibos tea or 2 teabags
1 cup unsweetened soy milk (or any milk of your choice)
1 Tbsp cashew butter
1-2 teaspoon adaptogens blend ( I use foursigmatic )
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Tbsp honey or sweetener of choice
a dust of cinnamon
Steep the tea in 2 cup boiling water according to for about 5 minutes
Warm the milk in a small sauce pan over medium heat
Add milk, tea, cashew butter, honey, adaptogen blend, and vanilla extract to a blender and mix until nice and frothy
