Turmeric, Mango, Ginger and Orange Slush + zero waste cracker

I love this nectar in the morning as a vitamin booster - or in the evening as a cocktail mixed with some prosecco :O, it's delicious! Turmeric, ginger, orange, mango..c’mon! You could also call it rejuvenation elixir. I made the nectar and ended up with the pulp, which still contains tons of nutrients and fiber. Don't waste anything! I combined it with almond meal, coconut flour, and shredded coconut and made crackers. You can still taste the mango, ginger, and turmeric, it has a sweetness to it that goes well with nut butter or cheese.

Turmeric really leads the way when it comes to spices and health benefits. Its active compound curcumin is one of the healthiest ingredients in the world. It has an incredible strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory potential that protects our cells, and it promotes the expression of the brain growth factor BDNF. It also inhibits enzymes that are linked to depression, if occurring at high levels. Make sure you add a pinch of black pepper to turmeric dishes, the active compound piperine helps absorb curcumin in turmeric. 

Did you know that Mangoes are exceptionally rich in potassium? Diets high in potassium are associated with lower blood pressure, it is also important in maintaining electrolyte and pH balance and effects the nerve cell excitability. Also, mangoes are excellent sources of Vitamin C and Vitamin A, great for your immune system and eyes. 

Turmeric, Mango, Ginger and Orange Slush

1 large Mango

3 Oranges

1 lemon

1 thumb sized piece of fresh ginger

1 thumb sized piece of fresh turmeric

1 tbsp honey (optional)

1 pinch black pepper

300ml water

crushed ice

peel and dice mango, oranges and lemon 

add everything into a blender, add ginger and turmeric 

blend until smooth, add water to thin out nectar

pour over crushed ice 

 

Zero waste cracker

pulp of Turmeric, Mango, Ginger and Orange Slush

50g almond meal

50g coconut flour

30g shredded coconut

combine all ingredients

spread out on baking sheet

bake for 15min at 180C or until crisp

cut into squares and let cool
