homemade granola

The best thing about this recipe is that it is super versatile. Once you have your basics (oats, coconut oil) you can start experimenting. Add honey or maple syrup if you have a sweet tooth, nuts and seeds for the crunchiness, cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg to tickle your taste buds and dried fruit for the surprise. You can make it in a big batch and it lasts for a couple weeks. Store it in a container in a cool and dry place.

If you are bored of the taste and consistency of plain oats or porridge, but you do not want to spend much money on store bought granola (and avoid the hidden sugar) homemade baked granola is the perfect alternative. I use whatever I can find in the pantry!

This granola is high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It keeps you full for a while and combined with fresh fruit, yogurt or milk a well-balanced meal. It is perfect for when you are in a hurry but still want a healthy filling breakfast.

If you want to make a GLUTEN FREE version, use either gluten free oats or buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, millet.

Nuts/Seeds: Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pecans, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, peanuts, hazelnuts, poppy seed
